The Record-Courier won four statewide journalism awards Friday, including a first-place award.

The All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards sponsored by the Cleveland Press Club were presented at the House of Blues in Cleveland.

Reporter Jeff Saunders won first place in the general news single story category for "Interviews detail longstanding neighbor feud before Portage deputy fatally shot woman." Saunders combed through pages of documents from the Ohio Bureau of Investigation's probe of Cara Baughman's death by a Portage County sheriff's deputy to write what judges called a "compelling story from start to finish."
