Kentucky high school volleyball rankings, district tournament schedule

Defending state volleyball champion Assumption High School will begin its quest to repeat Monday as district tournament play gets going across the state.

The Rockets (26-8) will face Brown at 6 p.m. Monday in a 26th District Tournament semifinal at Male.

Assumption is ranked No. 2 in the state in latest Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25.

Notre Dame (26-3) is ranked No. 1 and is 2-0 against Assumption this season, including a 15-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 16-14 victory over the Rockets on Tuesday.

Assumption beat Notre Dame in last year’s state final.

No. 7 Mercy (20-14) is the defending Sixth Region champion and will face the Fern Creek-Jeffersontown winner in a 24th District semifinal at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bullitt East.

No. 23 Oldham County (23-7) is the defending Eighth Region champion and will host South Oldham at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in a 29th District semifinal.

District champions and runners-up will advance to next week's regional tournaments. Regional champions will advance to the state tournament set for Nov. 4-9. The quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be played at George Rogers Clark High School.
